Yes, a decade and two years! That’s how long God has enabled us to hold In His Steps camp without fail, even during times of uncertainty. The 2022 IHS Camp was our 12th camping edition and it is remarkable thinking about what a journey this has been.

Speaking about journeys, the theme for the 2022 camp was: Traveller. This was inspired by the scriptures in 1 Peter 2:11-12 which reminds us that, as Christians, we are sojourners here on earth.

sojourner

/sɒʤənə/ noun: a temporary resident;

(verb) a sojourn is a short stay in a place that is not your home

Here is how the New Living Translation puts it:

Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. 1 Peter 2:11-12

As a temporary resident in any location, there are certain things you prioritize which are significantly different from the priorities of a permanent resident. We worked with this analogy throughout camp to give life to the instructions found in our anchor scripture.

Listen to Femi Iranloye share some 3 truths he learnt during our 2022 Youth Camp themed: Traveller. May it bless you!

Camp Reflections

Also as part of our 2022 camp, we visited a special needs school in Ilorin called To’Omo Re. We spent time interacting with the kids but we are not showing their faces in this video below because we want to respect their privacy. We donated food and gifts to the school and subsequently raised an additional monetary donation of N150,000 to support the education of the kids. It was truly an enriching experience and we know that the Lord will cause these kids attain greatness and shall not be limited by their circumstances. We also pray for more strength for the teachers and volunteers at the school.

One of the highlights of camp, was a powerful session with Pastor Ayo Okeowo

During camp, we went paint balling and it was a lot of fun! But it was also packed with lessons about navigating through life while putting on the whole armour of God and building a community that can protect you when the enemy strikes. Here is a short clip of that experience
